Business practices at Suomi-piste service points vary depending on the authority and the location. Before you arrive, check to see whether you need an appointment to conduct business with the authority or whether the matter can be handled without an appointment. Some authorities accept both ways of conducting business.
In addition to the official customer service of authorities, some service points offer general service counselling on government services. Service advisors will help all customers to conduct business at service points.
Good to know:
The Suomi-piste service points have client computers for customers to use independently. You can also print and scan documents related to your service. At most service points, service advisors provide digital support, i.e. help with using the digital services.
Some authorities also offer services remotely.
You are able to submit documents to different authorities.
In connection to some of the Suomi-piste service points there is a larger conference centre in which some authorities also meet their clients or stakeholder representatives. If you are expected as a guest at a conference centre, you will be informed of this in advance by the authority serving you.
Conducting business with or without an appointment
-
Check the authority's service channels to see whether you need an appointment and what the service hours are for services without an appointment. Make an appointment, if necessary, and familiarise yourself with the authority-specific instructions for conducting business.
-
When you know which authority you are going to visit, use the queue number machine to register. The queue ticket machine will give you instructions on where to go to wait for your appointment.
-
Observe the display to see how the queue progresses. You will be called in by your appointment number.
-
When it is your turn, go to the service room to conduct your business.
-
When you leave, you can give feedback if you wish – you can also move to the self-service area or wait for your next appointment.
Conducting business with a general service advisor
-
Check the Suomi-piste website to see if general service counselling and digital support are already available at your local service point.
-
When you arrive at the service point, you will be greeted by a service advisor. You may tell the advisor what you would like help with.
-
The service advisor will help you at the service advisor's point or, if necessary, direct you to a more private space or the self-service area.
-
Note! The service advisor can help you with general questions, but will not comment on the content of administrative procedures or, for example, make applications on your behalf.
-
If necessary, a service advisor will help you obtain a queue number or make an appointment with the correct authority.
-
When you leave, you may give feedback if you wish.
Conducting business at the self-service area
-
Before your arrival, you can check the location of the self-service area on the service point site map.
-
When you arrive at a service point, you can confirm the location of the self-service area from the map located at the entrance.
-
Go to the self-service area. You can use a client computer to conduct your business, print and scan documents.
-
There are also paper forms and other materials available in the area.
-
If you need help, you can ask a service advisor.
-
When you leave, you can give feedback if you wish.
Submitting a document
-
Before arriving at a Suomi-piste service point, check the instructions, such as deadlines, on the authority's website or in the instructions you have received.
-
You can submit the document in an envelope in the return box located inside a service point. Make sure that the document contains your contact details and mark the envelope with the name of the authority for which the document is intended. If you wish, you can also leave the document with a service advisor at the service points where a service advisor is present. Documents with a statutory deadline must be left with a service advisor or in the return box by 4.15 p.m. on the deadline date at the latest which is when the box is emptied.
If the document is of the kind that can only be submitted in person to an expert of the authority, take a queue number or, if necessary, make an appointment with the correct authority. In this case, please also take note of a possible deadline for submitting the document.
You can also scan a physical document in the self-service area of the service point and process it on a customer computer using the authority's e-services.
If necessary, you can get more information on submitting documents from a service advisor. However, please check in advance whether a service advisor is available at the service point.
